SHO suspended for keeping two men in illegal custody

SHIKARPUR: The SHO of Sturat Ganj police station was suspended, reverted to his last grade and booked for keeping two citizens in illegal confinement.

On a public complaint, Shikarpur SSP Nasir Aftab raided the Stuart Ganj police lock-up and released Rizwan Memon and Abdul Haque Marfani on Wednesday night. They had been put in illegal confinement without any case or complaint registered against them at the police station.

SHO Inspector Pervaiz Ali Mithani was arrested and put in the police lock-up. He was also accused of demanding a bribe from the citizens for their release.

On the order of the SSP, an FIR was registered against the SHO at the police station of Stuart Ganj.

The SHO was produced in the court of a judicial magistrate on Thursday. He was released after his bail application was granted by the JM.

The SSP posted a new SHO at the Stuart Ganj police station on Thursday.
