‘Robber’ dies in police custody
KARACHI: A suspected robber died in police custody on Tuesday, officials said.
They added that suspect Fahim Shamsudin, 33, and his accomplice, Mohammed Riaz, were arrested after they were thrashed by an angry mob during a botched robbery attempt at a wedding hall near Sakhi Hasan.
“They were taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for treatment and subsequently brought to the Shahrah-i-Noorjehan police station for interrogation,” said SHO Raja Tanveer.
However, he claimed, Fahim’s condition deteriorated on Tuesday.
He was taken back to the hospital where he died during treatment, the officer said.
The SHO said the police had no criminal record of the deceasedsuspect But it emerged during the investigation that the motorbike seized from his custody had been snatched in New Karachi Industrial Area on Feb 26.
