MULTAN: Police are reluctant to take action against the accused in a torture case.

Talking to Dawn, the family of the victim alleged that police were not arresting the accused due to political pressure.

Muzaffarabad police had lodged an FIR on the complaint of Shakir, a resident of Tibba Masoodpur, against Sajid alias Bali and Wajid alias Puppi for injuring his brother Jafar Husain with a fodder cutter on Jan 5.

He said Jafar had got deep injuries to his legs and feet and was shifted to Nishtar Hospital by police, adding that now his brother could not move his toe and feet properly.

Naziran Bibi, the mother of the victim, said the police had registered the case after 20 days delay as there was pressure of a PML-N parliamentarian on them and now they are reluctant to arrest the accused.

Investigation Officer Arif said the accused have escaped and the process was going on to declare them proclaimed offenders.
