Man dies of police torture
KHANEWAL – As Faiz Ahmad, 70, father of a proclaimed offender, was killed because of alleged police torture, Haveli Lakha police registered a murder case against the SHO and police team of McLeoad Ganj station.
Reportedly, on a tip-off regarding the presence of the PO at his home in Sujjekay village in district Okara in the area of PS Haveli Lakha, a huge contingent of McLeoad Ganj police raided the house to arrest a proclaimed offender-cum-dacoit Nazir Ahmad, son of Faiz Ahmad. The PO escaped but police allegedly tortured to death his father over providing shelter for him.
The aggrieved family members and locals staged a protest and raised slogans against the McLeod Ganj police party and brought the dead body to the Haveli Lakha station. The Haveli Lakha police registered a murder case against the accused SHO of the PS McLeod Ganj and his 13 subordinates.
Representatives of human rights and civil society organisations, lawyers, journalists and traders in Minchinabad condemned the use of torture by police against suspects and prisoners.
They demanded the police high-ups to abolish inhumane, cruel and outdated practices.
BODY FOUND IN REST HOUSE: A dead body from room of Rehman Guest House has been found and removed by the police.
Saghir of Multan along with Samia of Jatala Town Mian Channu got two rooms on rent in Rehman Guest House situated at Mian Channu Bypass. When someone of the guest house entered in the room he founded Saghir dead and the police were called, but in other room the female was missing. Mian Channu Police after taking possession of the body started investigation.
In another incident due to strike of speedy bus of a private company on bus stop of Chak 79/10R , young man Sajjad was seriously injured and before reaching the hospital expired.
