Relatives stage demo against police Youth ‘tortured to death’
Kotwali SHO among nine cops booked

JHANG: Relatives of a youth, who was allegedly tortured to death by police, on Wednesday blocked Jhang-Gojra Road in protest and demanded registration of a case against the accused policemen.
The protesters chanted slogans against the police and blocked the road in front of the DHQ hospital by placing the dead body of Muhammad Aslam of Chak Koriana.
Talking to journalists, Muhammad Zulfiqar, brother of the deceased, alleged that his brother Aslam was picked by ASI Mubashar, ASI Raja Ali Nawaz and other officials about a week ago on suspicion of stealing a motorcycle without registration of any FIR. During investigation at Kotwali police station, both ASIs and other cops tortured his brother Aslam to death, he further alleged. Later, the accused police officials brought his brother’s body to the DHQ hospital and left there, he added.
Later, the City DSP, Kotwali SHO reached the spot and assured the protesters that justice would be provided to them. After the assurance, the protesters dispersed. Later, an FIR was registered against nine cops, including SHO and two ASIs. The PRO to DPO Humayun Masood while talking to The News confirmed that Kotwali police had registered an FIR 124/16 under sections 302, 342, 148, 149, 155/C and 201 of PPC against Kotwali police SHO Naveed Ahmed, ASIs Mubashar and Ishaq Ahmed, HC Ali Nawaz, constables Asif, Imran, Shahid, Javed and Khalid. The PRO said that the DPO had issued directions that speedy justice would be provided in the case.
