Protest against youth’s killing in police custody
GUJRANWALA: The people of the Jinnah Road area blocked on Friday the road in protest at the killing of a youth in, what they called, in police custody in a drug case and demanded an inquiry into the case.
Protesters said Jinnah Road police picked Zaman from his house a few days ago for his alleged involvement in a theft case and killed him during interrogation.
They alleged that police buried him after declaring the body unclaimed. They shouted slogans against police and demanded that the body be handed over to the heirs.
The Jinnah Road police denied picking Zaman.
The protesters dispersed when senior police officers assured them of justice.
