A man died under mysterious circumstances in Data Darbar police investigation custody on Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Mohammad Jawad, son of Mohammad Farooq.

Police arrested Jawad a day back in connection with several cases registered against him at Data Darbar and other police stations of the city. In-charge Data Darbar investigation police said Jawad had died of some medical complications.

Talking to The News, DIG Operations Dr Ashraf Haider said that an inquiry had been initiated in this regard and strict action would be taken against the policemen if they were found guilty during the course of inquiry.

escape attempt foiled: The Lahore police on Saturday foiled an escape attempt of three accused of murder and robbery when they tried to abscond from the court premises after throwing red chillies in the eyes of police officials.

The police have produced Nadeem, Rafaqat and Shafiq before a judge of the Cantt Courts where they attempted to flee.

They also tried to snatch a rifle of a constable. The accused initially managed to run away, but police followed and arrested them again after a chase.
